Tongli
Simon and I took Andrew, Simon's friend from the UK, to Tongli for the day. Tongli is one of the small river towns that's been opened up to tourism over the last couple years. Not too far from Suzhou, this town has been called 'Little Venice of the East' because of its canals snaking through the town.
It turned out to be quite a very hot day fortunately it was unusually not crowded or packed with tourist. There is still a few interesting places around to see which is nice compared to Zhouzhuang (another river town that was opened up first) which is too comercialized and crowded. We wandered around the cobbled stones streets of the town with Simon in charge of the map and directions.
We managed to take a lot of photos without any Chinese in it! Wow! We went into some of the gardens which we missed from the previous time I was there with my family.
