Termites, Stokke, and more
I tried to post an update last night but my browser crashed on me and along with it went the long blog I was typing up. Anyway, hope this will be okay this time...
Month of May has been a crazy month and it just went by in a blur!
Had the opportunity to go to the new Shanghai Grand Prix arena to get some background info on the MotoGP. The place is huge and had the chance to see some action, though not the actual race. The weather was awful but managed to discuss work with a client at the paddock.
Next came my first attempt at doing a haircut. Yep, I cut Simon's long hair into a very very short version; leaving less than 1cm of hair! It was scary at first but it was quite fun after I got the hang of things. Simon was getting impatient with me though for spending too much time 'perfecting' the cut.We got swamped with work and new inquiries during May which was good. But in between trying to meet deadlines, we got attacked by termites! Yes, our office was swarming with termites one night. They were everywhere in the office and the conservatory. Simon sprayed Raid all over and I had to get out of the house to avoid inhaling all the fumes. So we went to get some ice cream while the fumes killed the termites. We came back and they've died but they were literally everywhere! We ended up spending 4 hours vacuuming and cleaning the office. Fortunately Adeline, my younger sis, was there to help with some of the heavy lifting. Very irritating indeed as I was rushing to meet a deadline but couldn't do any work!
Following day the landlord came with an 'expert' to see what the damage was and what can be done about it. Of course they had to spray insecticides all over the place and I had to get away from the house yet again. Another night of not being able to do any work again! For photos, click here.
After all that has happened in May with all the termites and work deadlines, Simon and I were looking very much forward to our 'holiday' in HK. It wasn't as much of a rest as I had hoped for as I still had a deadline to meet plus meetings with clients to go to. Simon had his own agenda to sort out. Fortunately we managed to squeeze in a couple movies and some shopping. Our biggest splurge was on the 2 Stokke Xplory we ordered. We've looked at what strollers and prams are available at the shops and even saw the Bugaboo but when we saw the Stokke one, we knew instantly that it was what we wanted. The twin strollers were huge! And even the single strollers were also huge. I was actually considering the Bugaboo as it was slightly cheaper but the Stokke was definitely 'the stroller'. We decided on getting 2 as it would be easier to maneuver and more convenient. Plus no need to stoop down as the baby will be higher up than the other strollers. We're excited and can't wait to get the strollers!Still so many things to prepare for the coming of the twins...
We've had our latest test and so far all is fine. I can now feel the babies kicking! I just wish that Simon can feel them too, but I guess it won't be long now. Their position in my belly is a bit odd; one is lying horizontally on the top while the other is in breach position (vertical). They both seem to have their legs all the way up to their faces. At least the babies look more human now on the ultrasound than before as they looked like aliens to me.
That's it for this blog... more to come...
