School Year Drawing to a Close

Walking to School

Last few days of school for the kids. I'm kinda going to miss walking to school with them. In spite of all the traffic noises around us, we still manage to get some conversations going.

The other day, Audrey was telling me all about Pizza Planet on Toy Story 1 and how you can eat pizza there but no place to sit, where there's play area, and where you can buy some drinks.

Samuel usually walks quietly beside me and corrects me when I say the wrong name; he pretends he is Buzz Lightyear one minutes, Sponge Bob Squarepants the next, Bob-The-Builder a few minutes later.

The only thing I don't miss is the the Shanghai heat that we end up arriving at the kids' school dripping wet.

Then and Now

After I got the pictures on the right, I was just itching to scrap a page to show how my kids have grown. The template I used was from the 'Bloom & Grow' kit purchased from Songbird Avenue. So happy with the turnout of this page...

Chalkboard Wall Decal

Sometime last year, I bought 2 set of chalkboard decals - a growth chart tree with squirrels and a set of squarish ones.

We immediately put up the growth chart in the kids' bedroom. The other set, I had planned on covering up this piece of wall in between the kitchen and dining area where the kids had done some drawings when they were around 1.5 years old. We've been unable to clean this up as it's been a combination of different sorts of pens they've managed to get their hands on. Anyway, for some strange reasons, they only wrote on this bit of wall and nowhere else in the apartment.

I hesitated putting the chalkboard decals to cover this wall as I didn't want to cut it up. After a year, I decided to just do it and put up the chalkboard decals on. Was so glad I did as it made a lot of difference. The kids immediately 'attacked' the wall and started doing some scribbles. At least this time they know they have to use chalk.
