Crochet hats

Right before Christmas, found some interesting crochet patterns on Etsy. My first foray into crocheting a complete project. I usually do knitting and occasionally adding some crocheted edging. With a little help from Penny (our nanny) we managed to do a couple hats to give as Christmas gifts.

For my kids, it was lower in the priority list, but was so happy to have finally finished off their hats. I made them slightly bigger so they can wear it in the next winter. These patterns were from Tip.Top.Applesauce on Etsy. Lucinda was a big help and was quite patient with answering my endless crochet newbie questions. The earflaps was following another pattern by Warm & Fuzzy Baby.

What I loved about buying patterns off Etsy is being able to contact the designer of the pattern(s) questions I may have.

Pasta Time

We love pasta and I love it even more when it's freshly made. The last time I made fresh pasta was like over 3 years ago, before we had twins. So it was quite exciting to be making pasta again and I thought I'd get the kids involved with the kneading as it's almost like playing with playdoh.

We had a lot of fun! They specially liked cranking the lever on the pasta machine and seeing the dough turn into long strips of noodles.

Next project: raviolis

'A Whole New World'

On Sunday, we got a bit of a 'shock'...Samuel was dressed up as Buzz Lightyear while Audrey in a Belle gown. They were playing pretend in the lounge and later on asked Daddy to put the Disney music on. Simon had called me into the lounge (as I was in the kitchen) and hurry up.

Both Samuel and Audrey were pretending to be Aladdin and Jasmine as they were singing the song 'A Whole New World'. And what surprised us is how Samuel was telling Audrey to put her hands on his waist (just like slow dancing) as they sang the song! Above all, Samuel was singing with his heart and knew almost all the words...and was 'serenading' Audrey.

Everything had happened so fast that I didn't get my camera out in time to take a photo of them doing a slow dance. They seemed so grown-up...

Pancakes

On Saturdays, we recently have been having pancakes for breakfast with the kids helping in the kitchen. This has been a great 'exercise' for me over time as this teaches me to be more patient and to be more inclined to overlook the mess. One of my pet peeves has been being picky and anxious of who is in my kitchen and the 'mess' left there. Nowadays, both the kids and I have learned to work with each other... they have learned to how to measure things and what ingredients to put in, while I've learned to be less anxious and more forgiving. Importantly, I'm learning a lot from my kids while we are all having fun and enjoying the pancakes we made.
